New Flowerbeds to be created around the Parish

Work has begun to create lots of new flowerbeds around the Parish. The beds have been marked out and work will begin shortly to spray and remove the grass. They will be planted with a mix of native wildflowers and annuals at the end of April to create lots of colourful displays during the Summer and early Autumn. The PET Team will also carry out work to improve and tidy the circle at the junction of Overdale and Rock Road.

The shaded areas on the maps below show the locations of the work to be done:

The PET team will be installing picnic benches and benches at various sites around the Parish over the next few weeks, including Lawley, The Rock, Dawley Bank and Overdale.

The first one is in at Lawley Village Green!

Dog Fouling

Dog fouling is becoming a major problem around the Parish. The PET team and local residents are increasingly reporting that our footpaths are being blighted by irresponsible dog owners who fail to clean up after their pets.

As there are many dog waste bins sited around the Parish, and waste bags are available free of charge from the Parish Office, there is no excuse for failing to clean up after your dog.

Dog fouling offences can be reported via the Telford & Wrekin Council website or the Everyday Telford App

Failure to clean up quickly and permanently after your dog is an offence for which you may receive either a fixed penalty fine of £50 or you may be prosecuted in the Magistrates Court. This can result in a fine of up to £1,000.

Grit Bins

The PET Team will be checking any grit bins they pass this week to monitor the amount of grit available. If any are running low they will contact Telford & Wrekin Council to request that they are topped up.

If you are aware that a grit bin requires refilling please contact Telford & Wrekin Council on 384384.

Fly Tipping

In addition to their usual environmental work the PET Team often come across other issues as they drive around the Parish. On Monday they cleared some rubbish that had been dumped on Cemetery Road, Dawley Bank, and reported the fly-tipping of fridges and other waste in the same area to Telford & Wrekin Council for removal.

Fly tipping is becoming a common problem in the Parish. If you see it please report it by calling 384384 or using the online form on Telford & Wrekin Council’s website.
