It was a long, bumpy road, but the Overdale Queen’s Platinum Jubilee party – originally scheduled to take place way back on Sunday 5 June – was finally held on Sunday 4 September.
Originally planned to take place on 5 June, we were forced to postpone the event early that morning when it became clear that the monsoon-level rainfall simply wasn’t going to stop, and the field had become more of a swamp.
The event was then rescheduled for Sunday 17 July, coinciding with the hottest weather ever recorded in Britain, and a corresponding ‘Red’ extreme heat warning – the first of its kind ever issued. For the health and safety of guests, staff, and our providers, we once more felt obliged to postpone the event.
Finally, after once again assembling the providers, we rescheduled the event for Sunday 4 September. While expecting record snowfall, an asteroid impact, or something similarly ‘on-brand’ for the event by that point, we pushed ahead – and, thankfully, the weather held out (mostly).
The third time was indeed the charm, and the event finally went ahead successfully!
We’d like to thank everybody who turned up on the day, and we hope you had a fantastic time.
Also, we’d like to thank the service providers/suppliers who helped us to deliver the event. Considering we had to postpone multiple times, they were all fantastically supportive, so big thanks to MW Medics, ACME Castles, JP Audio Visual, Hammonds Catering, Premier Bounce, Face Painting by Ewa, and Telford Toilets. Also thanks to Overdale Stores for their donation of various snacks and soft drinks!
While a Platinum Jubilee is a once-in-a-generation event, we will be looking to hold a similar (and hopefully less cursed) event in that spot at some point next year, so keep your eyes peeled for news on that.
In the meantime, take a look at some of the photos from the day!
