Background of the Green Guarantee
Telford & Wrekin Council has committed to protect over 300 green spaces in the borough under its Green Guarantee scheme, including several within Lawley and Overdale parish.
The Green Guarantee identifies areas of Council-owned land which will be protected from any future development. This is in addition to local nature reserves, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, Fields in Trust sites, and Village Greens which are already protected.
The first phase of the Green Guarantee, completed in March 2016, included 104 sites that are formally recognised areas of open space for leisure, recreation and biodiversity purposes and protected from any development.
Later in 2016, the Council asked the community to identify an additional 50 Community Green Spaces, owned by Telford & Wrekin Council, to be included in the Green Guarantee.
Another large number of sites were added across the borough in 2022.

- Old Park Pool, Old Park
- Old Park South East, Colliers Way, Old Park
- Overdale Playing Field, Overdale
- Park Lane Open Space, Old Park
- Princes End Lawley Bank
- The Rock Public Open Space
- Tom Morgan Close Open Space, Lawley
