Severn Hospice celebrates its tenth year in Lawley

Last week Severn Hospice supporters, volunteers and local shoppers joined the birthday party to celebrate its tenth year in Lawley Square.

The shop along Birchfield Way first opened its doors in 2014 and since then have generated more than £100,000 a year for the Severn Hospice, who provide specialist care and support free of charge to families across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Mid Wales.

The hospice has to raise £2 for every £3 it spends, and the charity’s shoppers and stock donors across the region contribute more than £1 million a year towards the specialist care it provides thousands of local people living with incurable illness.

The Lawley team and volunteering

Gary Stephan, the Community Shop Manager in Lawley, has been part of the team since the shop was opened and credits its success ” down to the generosity of our loyal customers and supporters”, along with the “incredible team of volunteers”.

Cheryl Doran is one of the volunteers who has assisted the charity for 15 years after witnessing the help given to her family and friends and believes that volunteering “it is such a rewarding thing to do” and that the shop in Lawley is  “full of lovely stock and pre-loved treasures, all of which are donated by our generous supporters”.

If you have some free time and would like to volunteer with a great team then simply pop into the shop or call 01952 505490 for further details.

Opening times

The community shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and 10:00am to 4:00pm on Sunday’s.
