Summer has departed the United Kingdom, and so once again has Lawley and Overdale Parish Council’s Best Garden Competition!
Entries closed on 31 August, and ever since then we’ve been perusing the entries, trying to decide on the winners.
How did we decide? Our Chairman, Cllr John Yorke, and our Vice Chairman, Cllr Lee Vidor, worked with members of the staff team, and together we voted on our favourite entries. There were some tough decisions (in most categories, anyway – more on that later), but eventually we came up with our winners and runners-up.
As before, the winners and runners-up in each category have won gardening vouchers to further improve their masterpieces! Before we get to the winners, let’s take a look at all of the great entries we received.
Best Back Garden winners
As with last year, this category featured the highest number of entries of all, making it difficult for our judges to pick the winner. We found all of the entries to be fantastic, but a decision was eventually reached!
And the winner is…
Congratulations to Maureen Bunning!
In second place…
Congratulations to Sandra Kirkland!
Best Front Garden winners
There were no entries in this category this year! This could’ve been an easy win for any entrant, but there weren’t any! Remember this for next year, folks…
Most Creative Use of Space winners
In this category, we wanted to see people using small amounts of space… well, creatively. The entries we received certainly did just that!
And the winner is…
Congratulations to Karen Carline!
In second place…
Congratulations to Andy Williams!
Best Young Gardeners
We couldn’t decide on the winner for this category – so everybody is the winner!
And the winner is…
Congratulations to Maisey!
And the other winners are…
Congratulations to Hannah and Lewis!
Thanks to everybody who took part
Congratulations to the winners, but our thanks go out to everybody who took part. We’ll see you all in 2022!
