Easter 2021

Easter is here!

Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic will once again limit how we can celebrate the holiday this year. We know everybody is eggshausted from dealing with it by now, so Lawley and Overdale Parish Council has come up with some eggcellent ways to celebrate the event. Why not come out of your shell and have a look?

Happy Easter from everyone at Lawley and Overdale Parish Council!

The Great Easter Egg Census

Our helpful volunteers placed all of our eggs in one basket jar, and we needed your help to figure out eggsactly how many we had!

So, eggsactly how many eggs were there?

A photograph of a clear glass jar, filled to the brim with small, foil-wrapped, multi-coloured chocolate eggs.

We can now reveal that there 246 eggs in the jar!

A picture of a jar full of foil-wrapped eggs, showing the correct answer as 246. Photographs of the three winners are lined up at the bottom.

Congratulations to our 3 lucky winners for guessing closest to the correct answer:

  • Max Simmonds
  • Wendy Porteous
  • Chantelle Stone

We hope you enjoy eating your way through your chocolate delight!

While you’re waiting to see if you’ve won the Great Easter Egg Census, we’ve put together an Easter-themed activity pack for families. It’s got a scavenger hunt, puzzles, a quiz, and more, so you’ll have no eggscuse for being bored this Easter!

Around the community

In Overdale, children are being tasked with an Easter treasure hunt! They’ll have to scour the area to find some letters and unscramble a code phrase. If they post their names and addresses, the Easter bunny will pay them a visit on 3 April with a chocolatey reward!

The Overdale event is being run by the local community. Although it’s fully-booked right now, keep an eye out for young sleuths!

Meanwhile in Lawley, the Light-Up Lawley community group has arranged for Mr Hopperty to do the rounds and deliver Easter eggs to local children. Keep an eye out for… well, a bunny. You probably won’t miss it.

Lawley and Overdale Parish Council is eggstremely pleased to have donated a large quantity of chocolate eggs to both events. We hope everybody has fun!

If your community is organising events for Easter, please get in touch and let us know. We’d love to hear about it!
