We held our Annual Parish Meeting on Tuesday 10th April at Lawley Community Centre where the successful applicants for Grant Awards assembled to collect their cheques. It was so nice to see so many people in attendance and to hear a summary of the work that they do and how the money is to be spent by each group that was represented.
FOTTP (Friends of Telford Town Park) " To continue to improve the facilities already available"
Wellington Cottage Care Trust – "Celebrating their Centenary Year – offer day care facilities for 40's – 90's with a range of conditions/disabilities- not just care but social interaction. Money to be used to purchase materials for arts & crafts which are free to users"
Bank Community Group – "Used for activities, trips for residents and towards a street party for the Jubilee"
Samaritans – " 50+ years in Telford – money to be used to train more volunteers"
Project Linus UK – "Thanks for the continued support from the Parish Council. Make comfort quilts for children in hospitals/hospices/refuges from 0 -18 years old. its a 'hug you can keep' "
OPRA (Old Park Residents Association) – " The group formed about 3 years ago and all residents in the Old Park area who work together to protect and preserve the village environment and to improve the area – hope to get Village Green status for parts of the area"
STABLE – "Group is 5 years old now and works to support individuals/families with lifelong epilepsy. Support is given to work places and a new project is going into schools called the 'Brainwave Project' which raised awareness of epilepsy. Money to be used to train first aiders and purchase a new laptop for the group"
Members of the Council and the groups enjoyed chatting over tea & coffee to round off an enjoyable evening.
The next round of Grants will be considered in October and forms are available to download or via the Clerk.
