Rubbish Collections are changing

You may remember receiving information recently about changes to rubbish and recycling collections in Telford and Wrekin.  Telford & Wrekin Council is streamlining its collections to help cut down on refuse vehicles and fuel as part of the £50m savings the Council has had to make as a result of local government cuts.

Nearly two thirds of all households in the borough – approximately 40,000 households – will see a change in the day on which their rubbish and recycling is collected.  Other households could find their collections remain on the same day but that the order in which their recycling and rubbish is collected may have swapped over.

Next week we will be working with our contractors TWS to tag everyone’s grey bin to inform households whether they will be affected by a change or not.  All grey bins will be tagged between 3 and 14 June.  The tag will explain when the new collection day will be, along with details of the next five collections to help residents to make the change.

Some homes will have a tag informing them that their collections are not changing.  Anyone who has not received a tag on their bin or through their letterbox by Friday 14 June is urged to contact the Council on 01952 384384 or check online at www.telford.gov.uk/bindayfinder

The changes to the collections will start from Monday 24 June 2013.  We ask that everyone tell their friends, family and neighbours to look out for their tags and make a note of the information.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.
