Please be aware the following closures are planned to take place imminently in the area:
1. The Highways Agency, which is the government agency responsible for Motorways and Trunk Roads, is continuing maintenance works to the M54 Junction 6 Ketley Dingle Interchange bridges which includes the continuation of lane closures on the M54 itself beneath the bridge with the addition of the day and night closure of the west bridge (northbound A5223 from Lawley towards Wellington) from tonight (Friday 3rd) for 5 days. This will be followed by closure of the eastbound bridge for 8 weeks from next Wednesday 8th January. Diversions will be in place.
2. The Box Road works, which facilitate the regeneration of Telford town centre, re-commence on Monday. Every effort is being taken to minimise the impact of these significant works which will ultimately improve access to and within the town centre. Two imminent notable activities are:
1. There will be a permanent closure of the bus lane / bus gate from Malinsgate onto Coach Central (outside the old Civic Offices) from Monday 6th Jan. This is to facilitate the start of the construction of the new roundabout as part of making Woodhouse and Coach Central two-way. Only Arriva and taxi companies are affected by this, they are aware and the diversion will be around the Box Road as all other traffic currently has to do, until Coach Central becomes two-way.
2. Planned temporary closure of Malinslee roundabout, overnight only between 7pm and 6am for up to 7 nights from Monday 13th Jan. This will more likely take just 5 nights. This is to enable re-surfacing to take place as part of the Malinslee roundabout improvements. This is the most efficient and cost effective means of carrying out the resurfacing works at the roundabout, as opposed to trying to manage traffic through the works. The public notice will be issued early next week which will include diversion routes.
