UPDATE: National Grid Works – Watling Street/Bennetts Bank

national-grid-works

The National Grid works currently taking place at the Bucks Head junction (Watling Street & Bennetts Bank) have overrun due to unavoidable issues that the utility has experienced on site. This work is now estimated to end on the 21st September.

The existing diversion route for vehicular traffic will remain, and will be via Haybridge Road, Haybridge Roundabout, Whitchurch Drive, Ketley Brook Roundabout, Bennetts Bank, Watling Street, Dawley Road, Kingsland, Princess Avenue, Woollam Road. For vehicular traffic travelling westbound vice versa.

We had previously allowed this work to start early to avoid a clash with School traffic, however this delay has now meant that we haven’t been able to fully avoid the school term. We are aware that these works are causing significant problems along Dawley Road, and are making changes to our traffic signals at the Mill Bank/Dawley Road junction today to try and improve this. If this does not give enough of an improvement, we will make further changes tomorrow morning which may include putting temporary signals on the Mill Bank/Dawley Road junction to relieve the pressure on Dawley Road.
Whilst we are doing everything we can to reduce the impact of this overrun, there will unfortunately be some significant disruption in this area over the next two weeks whilst the work is ongoing. If there is anything we can do with National Grid Gas to shorten the duration of these works and the impact of them, we will do so over the coming weeks.
