INFORMATION RECEIVED FROM TELFORD & WREKIN COUNCIL:
Pride in your Community –
Improvements in your area
We will shortly be working in your area as part of our ‘Pride in Your Community’ investment programme. This year, over £20million is being invested by the Council in improving, repairing and making safer the roads and streets in Telford and Wrekin. This includes the installation of energy efficient streetlights and road signs, a programme of road lining improvement, additional investment in repairing local roads and paths and environmental maintenance.
We will shortly be commencing the annual footway maintenance programme for 2017-18, with work beginning in the Ketley & Overdale area on 15th May 2017.
The works will be aimed to improve the condition of existing footways listed below and will consist of micro surfacing treatment. This will be completed by our term maintenance contractor Telford & Wrekin Services, and a specialist sub-contractor JPCS.
A leaflet which explains the treatment process, and what residents can expect throughout the works will be distributed to all properties with frontage onto the works area, approximately 2 days prior to works commencing on site.
Work will be completed in two batches, the first begins on 15th May, for the duration of one day. The second batch of works will be completed later in the year, these sites are deferred due to other works which are planned and must be completed prior to the footway improvements. This includes utility works, patching or street lighting replacements which will affect the footway surface.
Advanced warning signs will be on site ahead of the start date and traffic management will be in place to allow pedestrians to travel safely around the works area. The normal working hours within the sites shall be Monday to Friday between 07.00 and 18.00 hours, however some sites will be completed under restricted hours in order to mitigate disruption.
