Changes to adult social care charges – consultation

Following a meeting yesterday evening, Telford & Wrekin Council has decided to launch a consultation about proposed changes to the Adult Social Care Charging Policies.

The Adult Social Care Charging Policies are used by Telford & Wrekin Council to help determine how much, if anything, people need to pay towards the costs of adult social care services they receive.

Telford & Wrekin Council (TWC) explains that over the last nine years since the introduction of the Care Act 2014, they have not increased the charges for adult social care services, and they are now “significantly lower” than the national charging guidelines.

You can read more about TWC’s reasoning for these proposed changes on their website.

You can see the proposed changes to Adult Social Care Charging Polices here.

The consultation will be held to enable TWC to “fully understand how the proposed changes to the Adult Social Care Charging Policies may impact people”.

The consultation will begin on 20 June 2023 and will run for 11 weeks, ending on Monday 4 September 2023. TWC will welcome everyone to share their views. People already using adult social care services will receive a personalised explanation of the proposed changes to their individual charges.

Telford & Wrekin Council will be sending out more details on Tuesday 20 June. We will update this article when we know more.
