NEWDALE/GRESHAM DRIVE PLAY AREA – TREE & SHRUB WORKS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RESIDENTS

You will be aware that the play area in this area has been closed recently due to ongoing vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

To help to alleviate these problems, works will be undertaken in the next week or so to improve visual amenity and open-up the space prior to improvements being made within the existing play area so that it can be re-opened by the end of April 2018 and enjoyed by the local community.

The works are to be undertaken by contractors for the developer group on behalf of landowners HCA who are looking to transfer the play area to Telford & Wrekin Council will take place as per the diagram/explanation:

 

  1. (A&B) – fell trees & shrubs either side of the watercourse. Fell & treat the self-set trees, reduce the existing shrubs to match already maintained shrub are adjacent to 1B
  2. Create clear vision within demarcated area, felling Willow & Elder, crown lifting Ash to 2.5- 3m and reducing dogwood to match existing at edge of grassed area
  3. (A&B) – fell all trees within the demarcated areas, clear collapsed trees & shrubs within areas and detritus collected within the waterway. Reduce shrubs to match existing on POS side area
  4. (A&B) – fell and treat all trees and reduce all shrub species to 1m
  5. Reduce shrub bed and grass over
  6. Previously cleared visibility splay – reduce all vegetation in this area to 1m
  7. Previously cleared visibility splay – reduce all vegetation in this area to 1m
  8. Previously cleared visibility splay – reduce all vegetation in this area to 1m, plus fell marked trees within demarcated area and open up the footway access
  9. Fell all trees within this area except 1 x Ash for 2 x lowest limb removals (marked)

Play Area Tree & Shrub Works January 2018

Following these works, the children’s play area is to be resurfaced and existing equipment repaired, cleaned and painted

 Any further enhanced provision for play will be consulted upon separately at a later date.
