Lawley Square tidy-up

Lawley and Overdale Parish Council is aware that residents have recently been contacting councillors and commenting on social media about the unkempt appearance of Lawley Square. We have made efforts to contact the relevant groups to start a tidy-up of the Square.

The land ownership in this area is complex however, as there are five different management companies involved, each with responsibility for maintenance in their areas.

The Parish Council has contacted the relevant parties and asked that they undertake some cleansing, as it is very untidy at present.

We would like to point out that Bournville Village Trust (BVT) has no responsibility for any area within the Square, and currently neither does Telford & Wrekin Council (TWC).

We have had one response to date, from the Lawley Village Developer Group (LVDG). While LVDG is awaiting the transfer of maintenance to TWC,  they have agreed to undertake cleansing and weed spraying. Starting on 3 August, they will begin cleansing on the Parish Council office side of the Square and associated parking bays.

This area, along with the road, will be transferred to TWC in the not-too-distant future.

While we agree that maintenance in the Square has not been a priority for all the management companies involved, each and every person that uses the Square has a responsibility not to leave litter of any sort.

We can all do our part to help keep Lawley and Overdale tidy. Please take your litter home, or deposit it in one the bins.
