Telford & Wrekin Council (TWC) launched the Telford & Wrekin Hero Awards yesterday (3 August), allowing people to nominate “local heroes” who have made a difference to their communities.
According to TWC’s Newsroom post, the awards are a way of celebrating “all those local heroes who have shown kindness and amazing community spirit during the COVID-19 pandemic”.
Nominations can be made to one of six different categories:
- Volunteer
- Volunteer Group
- Good Neighbour
- Unsung Hero
- Community Support Group
- Young Carer
“There will be no winners or losers”, the Newsroom post adds.
Once verified, nominees will receive a certificate of recognition for their work and kindness from both Cllr Amrik Jhawar, Mayor of the Borough of Telford & Wrekin, and Cllr Shaun Davies, Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council.
In order to nominate someone for an award, visit the Telford Community Pride Awards website and fill in the nomination form. If you’d rather have a paper form, they are available from Oakengates Theatre reception, Monday to Friday, from 10am to 4pm.
