Healthwatch seeks out-of-hours palliative care experiences

The two local Healthwatch groups in the Telford and Shropshire area are running a joint survey about your experiences of accessing out-of-hours palliative care since the start of March 2020.

Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin (HWTW) and Healthwatch Shropshire (HWS) are conducting this survey jointly.

Local Healthwatch groups are independent consumer watchdogs for health and social care services, which try to represent the views and experiences of residents in their areas. There is a local Healthwatch group for every region of England, supported by the nationwide Healthwatch England.

For this survey, the two Healthwatch groups wish to learn about your experiences of accessing palliative care support from health services during the time when your GP surgery is closed – such as over-night, on weekends, and during bank holidays.

They are seeking responses from people who have accessed these services since the beginning of March 2020.

“We would like to gain an understanding of the needs and experiences of palliative care patients and their carers, in order to ensure that out-of-hours care is both effective and efficient,” explained Laura-Jayne Horton, the Information Analyst & Business Support Manager for HWTW.

If you want to take part, you can complete the out-of-hours palliative care survey online on the HWS website.
