A consultation period for the Local Plan Review opened on Monday, Telford & Wrekin Council announced in a Newsroom post. It will give residents of the borough the chance to participate in the future development of Telford & Wrekin.
The Telford & Wrekin Local Plan (TWLP) is a plan for the future growth and development of the borough. It covers things like future housing developments, building of new shops and other retail outlets, and employment opportunities.
Every local planning authority – in this case, Telford & Wrekin Council (TWC) – has to develop a local plan. It has to be evidence-led, achieve sustainable development, and follow the principles of the National Planning Policy Framework.
Local plans have to be reviewed at least once every five years. TWC adopted the TWLP in January 2018, which means the review needs to be completed by January 2023.
The current stage of the TWLP Review is the “Issues and Options” stage. This is the chance for local residents and businesses to have their say on the future development and growth of Telford & Wrekin.
You can take part in the Local Plan Review consultation online. The deadline for submissions is 4 December 2020.
