Highways England has announced that overnight maintenance work is due to begin on M54 eastbound between junctions three to five from today (Monday 20 September 2021), and is planned to continue until 9 October 2021.
The works will be carried out between 9pm and 6am, Monday to Friday, and will include the renewal of road markings and studs. “The completed work will ultimately provide a safer road for our customers”, Highways England says.
“Access to and from frontages that fall directly within our closure will be maintained throughout,” the letter continues. “During full carriageway closures, we’ll provide a fully signed diversion route. Please see the reverse of this page for further details. Emergency vehicles will have access throughout. Our planned road work may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
“Traffic wishing to join the M54 Eastbound at junction 5 will be instructed to:
- Join the A5 heading northbound towards Telford way
- Traffic will continue on the A5 Eastbound to Burlington Cottages roundabout
- Exit the A5 at Burlington Cottages roundabout taking the third exit onto the A41
- Continue on the A41 heading southbound returning back to the M54 Junction 3 roundabout to continue journey
