Lawley and Overdale Parish Council’s Chairman, Councillor John Yorke, is back to deliver a video update for December 2021.
Transcript
Hello, John Yorke chair of Lawley and Overdale Parish Council with our December video.
Thanks to all those that attended the Lawley Community event at the Academy in mid-October.
I hope you found it beneficial and interesting. The likely provision of traffic enforcement cameras on a major road or two was well received.
We have to await the Borough Engineers decision on their placement locations and the like. Equally, the proposed play site at Newdale generated a lot of comments, with a further look and see exercise at the parish offices, and a social media posting both inviting public comments. We await further news on this as well.
November saw the annual Community Remembrance Day service held at our highly regarded war memorial.
After last year’s necessity of a virtual service, it was wonderful to welcome so many residents and visitors to our improved pedestrian area to recognize the sacrifices made by so many.
Survivors from the horrors of war were also remembered along with those serving now, reservists and the families of our Armed Forces personnel.
It was particularly pleasing to hold a real service upon the 100th birthday of the Royal British Legion.
December – hopefully a season of jolliness and goodwill.
In partnership with Great Dawley Town Council, we’ve provided funding to this year’s Dawley Bank Festive Fun event. We’ll have a stall at the event too! Our thanks to Great Dawley Town Council for arranging the event and inviting our parish to take part!
Kicking off at 5pm on Friday 3 December 2021, the event will take place at both Dawley Baptist Church and the Jubilee Woods right up until 7pm.
What can you expect to find there?
At Dawley Bank Baptist Church, you’ll find live music, an assortment of community and craft stalls, face painters, and more!
Meanwhile, in the Jubilee Woods, there will be trails to follow and certain red-suited jolly man to find!
Lots for the children to wonder at, so come along!
Then on 11th December, between 11 and 2, the Parish Council Xmas fayre will be at Carpenter Centre. Stalls to buy from, stalls to win prizes from, all available for your delight.
Then on 18th between 2 and 5, the Parish Councils Xmas Fayre comes to the War Memorial site. Stalls, games, drink, food should all be available.
Come along on 11th and 18th and get in the festive mood. We are advised that Santa should be putting in an appearance on 11th and 18th.
So, nearly up to Christmas, what else to say other than to all of you from myself, my Councillors and Parish Council staff,
A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
