Lawley and Overdale Parish Council’s Chairman, Councillor John Yorke, is back to deliver a video update for February 2022.
Transcript
Lawley and Overdale Parish Councils first video of 2022. Welcome from John Yorke, Chair of the Parish Council.
Everyone at the Parish Council hopes you had a good Christmas. Here’s to a great 2022 to you all.
What’s been happened since my last video?
Well, the Parish Council’s Xmas fayres made their appearances at Dawley Bank on 3rd December in the partnership event with Great Dawley Town Council, then our own fayres on 11th in Overdale and 18th in Lawley.
It was pleasing to see so many at the events, and we would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all those who attended, both public and stall holders alike. We could not have done it without you.
We are so happy the events were received so well and I was most pleased to be able to present Telford MIND with a cheque for over £450, which was raised from the events. Telford MIND staff extended a huge thank you for the donation. It will go towards their ‘unfunded listening service’.
We have a lot of events lined up over the coming months. Keep an eye on our website and social media for announcements!
First up are our plans for a big lunch in Overdale in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Following that is Summerfest, planned to be bigger and better than ever before to celebrate its triumphant return. It will be in July, a Summerfest to remember and with even more entertainment.
Other news, we still await word on the details as to where the promised traffic enforcement cameras will be located. Rest assured that your Parish Council will continue the push for them.
We are pleased to be able to tell you that on 27th January, the Parish Council approved their budget for next financial year. It’s approval means no increase in your payment to the Parish Council through your Community Charge at Band D level.
So, a good start to the year. Remember, keep your eyes on our website and social media pages. The links are shown here and will give the up to date news.
Thanks for watching, look out for my next video in March.
