Residents of Old Park will recently have noticed the installation of two benches and a number of owl/bat/bird nesting boxes in the green area by The Crest earlier this month.
While Lawley and Overdale Parish Council has handled the fitting, the benches and boxes themselves were funded by a Veolia EnviroGrant.
The EnviroGrant gives grants of up to £1,000 to support projects that benefit the local community or the environment. EnviroGrant is part of the added value that Veolia brings to the borough, as secured by Telford & Wrekin Council in the waste contract. It’s one of the ways Veolia supports the local community.
The area is one in which Old Park residents enjoy picnics, play, fishing or just watch the world go by. The benches in-situ at the small green open space were looking tired at the best and required replacing.
After being awarded a Veolia EnviroGrant, we engaged with some Old Park residents about improvement of the open green space. This has seen the installation of additional bird/owl/bat boxes and replacement of two benches.
Our thanks to Veolia and Telford & Wrekin Council for the grant, which has allowed this to happen.
