Residents’ engagement meeting at the Carpenter Centre

The Carpenter Centre, Overdale recently re-opened its doors to community use after a partnership effort between the Parish Council and Telford & Wrekin Council’s (TWC) Safer, Stronger Communities initiative. Residents are now invited to a meeting regarding ideas for community uses of the centre.

Residents of Overdale and the Parish Council have on a years-long campaign to make the facility available to the local community again. After some refurbishment work was undertaken earlier in the year, with funding from Safer, Stronger Communities and Borough councillors, we were pleased to see the launch event take place on 25 June.

Now that the launch has come and gone, on Tuesday 11 October 2022 TWC and the Parish Council will be hosting a residents’ engagement meeting.

Residents are invited to come along and have a chat with their local councillors, staff from TWC, and staff from the Parish Council about some of the ideas for community use of the centre that they shared at the launch event. Examples of ideas that were shared included a youth club, social activities like bingo and coffee mornings, and more.

We would like to hear from those who would be interested in getting involved, and who may have other ideas of what is needed within the local community.

Advice will be given, as will support for those who want to start a group and how they can be helped financially via grants.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 11 October at the Carpenter Centre, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
