Transcript

Hi, my name is Councillor Raj Mehta, Chair of Lawley & Overdale Parish Council.

I hope all is well and everyone is safe and well in the community.

On Sunday 13th November, we invited residents to our Community Act of Remembrance, held at Lawley War Memorial. It was fantastic to see so many of the residents attending the service, and we hope you found it poignant and respectful.

A big thank you to local Reverend Steph Warrell for running the service for us this year.  In case you were unable to attend, please take a look at our website to view some more images from the Service.

As we enter the festive period, we are happy to say that we have been able to introduce some additional festive lights across a number of areas within the Parish.  This has been due to a number of our Councillors utilising some of their pride funds.

  • Lawley Village Green – Councillor Jayne Greenaway
  • Lawley Community Centre – Councillor Jackie Seymour
  • Overdale (including Carpenter Centre) – Councillor Mark Boylan
  • Dawley Bank – Councillor Shaun Davies & Councillor Kuldip Sahota

Also, working with Lawley Partnership Board additional lights have been added to Lawley Square. These will be switched on at the Carol Service event that has been organised by Lawley Partnership to take place on Thursday 1st December between 5.45 – 7.30pm.  So do all attend that event, we are looking forward to seeing you all.

We have our own Parish Christmas events coming up.

On Saturday 10th December we have a Christmas Fayre taking place at the Carpenter Centre, Overdale between 2.00pm – 5.00pm.  There will be stalls, crafts and a number of free children’s activities such as face painting, balloon twister, creation station, plus festive characters such as Anna & Elsa and Santa.

On Saturday 17th December we have our outdoor Christmas Fayre taking place near the Lawley War Memorial, this will take place between 2.00pm – 5.00pm.  Once again there will be a number of stalls and free activities and fun for everyone.  Visit Santa’s grotto and children receive a free gift.

All of our Parish is welcome at both events and we hope to see as many as possible from across the Parish.

We are also running two children’s Christmas events, the Elf Stealth School, and Christmas Creatures. Each event will run twice across 21 – 22 December, at the Carpenter Centre, and Lawley Community Centre.  These have been funded by myself and Councillor Jayne Greenaway and Councillor Mark Boylan from our Pride Funds. There are limited spaces available for these activities and tickets for these events can be booked through Eventbrite.

Finally, our Winter newsletter has been published and should be making its way through everyone’s letter box.  Please take time to read and see all the good things that we do and have done and have taken place and are taking place across the Parish very soon.

I look forward to bringing you new updates in December.  Until then stay safe and enjoy yourselves and do complete these community events.

And again, myself and my colleagues at the Parish are here to serve you, do take care.

I know it’s getting cold, but keep smiling because we want you to smile.  Your our residents and we are here to serve you.  Thank you.
