New bus route for the school children and the public

Telford & Wrekin Council have announced a new bus route for both school children and the public which will commence from Monday 9 January 2023.

Pupils at five schools across the borough will now be able to use the brand new bus service, which includes those living in Lawley & Overdale Parish.

The Council funded 101 service will help pupils attending Charlton, Ercall Wood and Telford Langley schools along with Telford College and Lawley Academy. In addition, the new route will also be available for the wider public traveling to and from Madeley, Dawley, Lawley, Wellington and the Princess Royal Hospital.

The weekday only service will begin on Monday 9 January 2023 from Madeley Centre at 7:00am and end at 7:00pm. Further information is available on the route map  and full timetable route 101.

The capped fares mean that students can travel for £1.00 per single journey and adults for a maximum of £2.00 per single journey, which will no doubt be welcomed by commuters.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing, Enforcement and Transport, Councillor Richard Overton said “We have been working with people who use and need the services and the new routes are based on a survey we completed last summer. If you haven’t used the bus in a while, this might be just the incentive to try the new quick, cheap services on a new, low emission vehicle”.
