Transcript
Hi, my name is Councillor Raj Mehta, Chair of Lawley & Overdale Parish Council.
I’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year and hope that everyone enjoyed the time over the Christmas period with your friends, family and loved ones and you are all safe and well in the Community.
Details of some support that is available across the Parish:
Lawley Bank Court have opened up a warm space over the winter mornings and months. Anybody can pop in to have a chat, get warm, have a hot drink and have something to eat every weekday between 9.30am – 2.00pm.
This is being support by funding from a number of different organisations, including Lawley Partnership Board, Telford & Wrekin Council, Bournville Village Trust and ourselves, Lawley & Overdale Parish Council.
Starting on 13 January 2023, come and join us at the Carpenter Centre, Overdale, where we will weekly hold a Community event Tea, Toast & Talk. It will be between 10.00am – 12.00pm and there will be a £1 entrance fee.
These new casual events will give residents the chance to meet up with other members of the Community and maybe make some new friends while enjoying some hot refreshments in a warm environment.
Not only will you get to mingle, but there will also be some varied activities on offer and some other organisations might join us to discuss issues facing your Community, or even to offer training courses!
Initial funding for this event has been generously provided by Telford & Wrekin Council’s Safer, Stronger Communities project, and Councillor Mark Boylan’s Councillors’ Pride Fund.
As well as that a new bus route is due to commence from Monday 9th January 2023, which will enable residents of the Parish to travel across the Borough, including those who attend schools in Wellington.
Telford & Wrekin Council have announced a new 101 service, which will operate from 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday. Hopefully, this will be of some benefit to local residents who have children who attend schools in Wellington.
Again, we as a Parish are here to serve you, our Community. Any concerns or any issues you might have, please do get in touch with us. From myself, my colleague Councillors and all the staff do have a safe month and I look forward to speaking to you next month.
Thank you.
