Transcript
Hi, my name is Councillor Raj Mehta, Chair of Lawley & Overdale Parish Council.
I hope everything is safe and well in the community.
I’m here today on behalf of the Parish Council presenting a cheque for £400 to the Telford First Responders. Thank you, Pete.
Where at our Christmas event raised £400, whilst doing the tombola, Peter thank you very much. And for the cheque that’s been presented to Telford First Responders, all that money raised.
Thank you to you the community, who helped raise this money to a very good cause.
Today some details of some continuous support available across the Parish. Firstly, as well as weekly chatty caffes on Thursdays between 9am-11am, at Lawley Bank Court. It’s also a designated warm space every day from 9am until 2pm. Anybody who may be in need can enjoy a warm space, but also have a drink and something to eat. So again, Lawley Court come along, the warm space is there for you, our community.
Both the chatty café and the warm space has been supported by funding by a number of different organisations, including Lawley Partnership Board, Telford and Wrekin Council, Bournville Village Trust and ourselves, Lawley & Overdale Parish Council.
Our weekly tea, toast and talk sessions are part of the Overdale Hub at the Carpenter, continues to take place every Friday between 10.00am – 12.00pm in the morning. Everyone is welcome. Come and join in the fun and maybe make some new friends and enjoy some hot refreshments again in a warm environment.
The first three-mile walk of the new residents led Lawley men’s walking group took place last Thursday and was enjoyed by those that took part. This casual social group and men of all ages and abilities are always welcome to join. The next one will take place on Thursday 16th February and the place to meet is outside Morrisons at 6.00pm, dress up warm, as today is very cold.
The number of free and fun children’s holiday activity sessions in Lawley, Overdale and Lightmoor are taking place during February half term. These sessions are being funded by Lawley Partnership Board, Bournville Village Trust and again ourselves, Lawley & Overdale Parish Council. The sessions can be booked via Eventbrite, please look on our social media for further details.
In other news, Lawley and Overdale Safer Neighbourhood Team are advising residents to be extra vigilant, following a series of damage and thefts of vehicles in Lawley and Newdale. The Sergeant is urging residents to report any suspicious activity by dialling 101, if it is an emergency call 999, otherwise dial 101.
Finally, while our Neighbourhood Enforcement Officers were out doing their patrolling last week, they identified and reported several fly tips. Fly tipping is illegal and can result in fines or prison sentences, sometimes both. You can report a fly tip, to Telford and Wrekin Council via the my Telford app.
Again, we as a Parish are here to serve you, our community. Any concerns, any issues you might feel that are not being aired or have not been addressed, please do get in touch.
Our staff are there to serve you and listen to your concerns. As the Chair of the Parish, if there is anything I can help or you need to speak to me, please drop us a line or give us a call, I am more than happy to speak to you.
On behalf of myself, and all my colleague Parish Councillors and the staff, enjoy the rest of the month. I look forward to bringing some more news next month. Thank you.
Thank you.
