Chair’s March 2023 video update

Lawley and Overdale Parish Council’s Chairman, Councillor Raj Mehta, is back to deliver his monthly video update for March 2023. What’s happening in your parish?

Hi, my name’s councillor Raj Mehta, this is my March video update for you all.

Easter holiday activities. There’ll be once again a number of free and fun children’s holiday activities brought to you by Lawley and Overdale Parish Council. During the Easter half term. This will include Fun Science, Exotic Zoo, multi-sports, Easter trails, cooking, magic, Queen of Hearts, and Urban Games. These sessions have been funded by Lawley Partnership Board, Bournville Trust, again ourselves, Lawley and Overdale Parish Council. Any of these activities will be available to book via our Eventbrite, please log on to our social media for more further details. If you’re having any problems please get in touch with our staff at the office, at Lawley and Overdale Parish Council, they’ll be more than happy to help.

We have the King’s Coronation coming up, to celebrate the coronation there’ll be celebrations events taking place on Sunday 7 May 2023, on the field at Lawley Primary School. As part of this event, we’ll be starting the celebrations with a walking parade, which will start from Lawley Village Green. This event will be again in partnership with Lawley Partnership Board, Bournville Trust, and ourselves. Further details will be shared in the coming months for you guys to get involved.

Again, Summer Fest, it’s great to be able to announce that, thanks to the parish, BVT Bournville Trust, and Lawley Partnership Board, the Summer Fest will take place on Saturday 8 July. So please, mark this in your diary. It’s fantastic, it’s a free family event day out, which will be again taking place on Lawley Village Green from 1 to 9pm, so come along, get your friends, family, and all of you come and have fun, because this event is put on for you to come and have fun in the local community. Don’t forget to follow Summer Fest on the Facebook page, if you don’t already, more details will be shared on that really soon.

Again, like many of the years, we’ve got the Fun Run coming, it’s excited, it’s on Saturday 9 September, this year’s Lawley 5k Fun Run, which will take place. Event’s been organised by Lawley Running Club, in partnership with ourselves, Bournville Trust, and again, Lawley Partnership Board. It’ll be great to see as many people as possible signing up to take part this year. Please keep an eye again on our social media for further more details.

We have a Men’s Walking Club, that the residents led, by Lawley men, walking group, meets every fortnightly on a Thursday evening. The next walking will be taking place on Thursday 16 March at 6pm. Men of all ages and abilities and experiences are welcome, and they’ll be meeting outside Morrisons in Lawley.

And I’m happy to say as well, we’ve heard a lot about the speeding, and in partnership with the Partnership Board, Lawley Partnership Board, we’ve got cameras being put up, so we have listened to you residents, and as a partnership we’ve got them installed.
