Temporary road closure along Colliers Way, Caledonian Way, Old Park

We have been advised by Telford & Wrekin Council that there will be a temporary road closure as detailed below:

TTRO Caledonian Way Colliers Way

Please find attached information that outlines the traffic management arrangements for temporary road closures along Colliers Way and Caledonian Way, Old Park.

Balfour Beatty on behalf of Telford and Wrekin Council are planning to undertake resurfacing works. The work is set to commence on Monday 20th May 2019 and will last for a duration of 11 nights between the hours of 19:00pm and 06:00am on weekdays only with an end date of Friday 31st May 2019.

UPDATE ON LAWLEY COMMUNITY CAR PARK

Telford and Wrekin Council has received notice of an appeal which has been made by Morrisons to the Secretary of State, against the Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the erection of an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera.

Residents will recall that Telford and Wrekin Council, the Parish Council and over 1000 residents objected to Morrisons proposals due to:

  • the consideration that Lawley as Sustainable Urban Extension was granted on the provision that this was a community car park for the area, without restriction
  • the change of restriction from an unrestricted car park would therefore have a detrimental impact on local residents and businesses
  • its potential harm to highway safety and the economic viability of existing shops
  • and that, because of the lack of alternative available parking within Lawley, losing the unrestricted car park would worsen the current situation.

The Parish Council would encourage residents to comment on the appeal as the proposals would prevent Parkes’ Court residents, volunteers in the Charity Shops, and staff from the retail units, the Medical Centre, Lawley Dentist and the Extra Care Centre from parking on the car park, as they have done since the Square and Morrisons was built. They will inevitably have to park on local residential roads, causing issues for local residents and making it even more difficult for vehicles, including the local bus service, to travel around the area.

The appeal is to be considered solely on the basis of written statements and will be determined by a planning inspector who has been appointed by the Secretary of State to review the evidence.

If you wish to make comments on the appeal, you can do so online at https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk or by emailing NSI.planning2@planninginspectorate.gov.uk. Alternatively, you can send 3 copies to The Planning Inspectorate, 3G Hawk Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol, BS1 6PN.

All comments must be recieved by 20/05/2019. In all cases please quote the case reference APP/C3240/W/19/3223822.

The planning Inspectorate will not acknowledge representations and any received after this date will not usually be considered by the Inspector and will be returned.

A guide to taking part in planning appeals is available from the gov.uk website at https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/taking-part-in-a-planning-listed-building-or-enforcement-appeal.

The appeal documents can be viewed on the planning online system at https://secure.telford.gov.uk/planning/home.aspx using reference number TWC/2018/0714. The appeal decision letter will be published on the Council’s planning online system and on GOV.UK.
