Charity offers support for victims of crime

Victims of crime searching for emotional and practical support may find the help they’re looking for at Victim Support. Victim Support is an independent charity that offers confidential help to people who victims and witnesses of crime, as well as their families and friends.

“We cover the West Mercia area, and are able to support service users throughout the area,” Hannah Burton, Independent Victim Advocate, explained in an email. “[We] have offices in Kidderminster, Redditch, Telford, Shrewsbury, and Worcester.

“Victims of crime can self-refer,” she added.

The Victim Support website lists the services they provide as including:

  • Information and advice
  • Immediate emotional and practical help
  • Longer term emotional and practical help
  • Advocacy
  • Peer support and group work
  • Restorative justice
  • Personal safety services
  • Help in navigating the criminal justice system
