LITTER BINS – PHASE 1A LAWLEY DEVELOPMENT

We have been approached by a number of concerned residents regarding the recent additions of litter/dog waste bins on Phase 1A of the Lawley Development. Whilst this has nothing to do with the Parish Council we are trying to assist residents who have asked for our help.

The locations of the bins was agreed back in 2003/2004 as part of the planning process for the development and the plans have been in the public domain ever since so this is not something new.

It appears that Persimmon are installing the bins, the locations of which are shown on the approved plans  1A litter bins

Advice received from T&W Planning department – they have said that technically there is no justification for the Council to seek the relocation of any bins as they are located at the agreed positions.

They have advised that if residents want to pursue the matter, please submit details of the exact locations of the particular bins causing most concern and the specific reasons why residents want them relocated – just because they are outside someone’s property is not a reason.  To deviate from the approved plan needs good reason and we are not aware at this time of any reasons to do so.

The Parish Council have spoken to Persimmon, T&W Planning Department and T&W Public Realm (The bins will be adopted by TWC in due course) and are to have a site visit w/c 12th August to look at locations of the bins.

Dust clouds from Phase 6 development

We reported the complaints received about dust clouds that were being generated by the building works on Phase 6 of the Lawley developmemt earlier in the week and they were promptly dampened down We have received further complaints today that the same was happening and again it has been reported – lets hope the action today is just as prompt!

Concerns about speed and noise on Lawley Drive

We have received a number of complaints about the speed which some drivers travel along Lawley Drive and these have been raised with both the Police and TWC. A response from TWC was as follows:

·        " The speed limit along Lawley Drive was originally designed by consultants working for Ironstone. At 30mph this proved to be too low given the width of the carriageway and the delay in the frontage development brought on by the recession. Speed enforcement by the Police was deemed inappropriate at this artificially low speed and we were asked to raise the speed limit to 40mph. The revised 40mph speed limit has now removed the issue of speeding by the majority of drivers. (85%ile) and this is likely to remain until such time as the scale of planned development triggers a review. It is expected that when the review takes place a 30mph speed limit will be reinstated. "

This does not take into account the 'boy racers' that use Lawley Drive like a race track with music blaring  and engines revving at all hours of the night and this is very troublesome for residents in the vicinity. We have reported this to the local Police and requested that they monitor it and enforce the limits where possible.

Please continue to raise any concerns that you have with us and report them to the police on 101.
